I want to start my own wedding planning bussiness from home any advice?
Q. I was asked to plan a wedding in october I have done wedding planning for friends before but this one that is coming up is strictly bussiness i want to know where to start

A. Hi, After being in the wedding business for over twenty years I have some advice that I promise will work. First order the huge invitation books from the companies that carry a wide variety. You can go to a Hallmark store or anyplace that sells invitations and get the info out of their books to contact the company and order your own. Next your cost on them is 50% of the price in the books so you advertise in a local paper or magazine that you sell wedding invitations half price and you deliver in 3 days. This is the usual delivery time. You will have brides flock to you like crazy. Then you can present your main business as a wedding planner to them. It will help you greatly if you can build up some reference letters from your friends… [cont.]

Q. How would one find a job in the wedding planning industry? What is the median pay for a wedding planner? Thank you for the answer Anupam K but I actually meant wedding planning as far as a career goes! A. There are certifications and classes you can take to become a wedding planner. There are also wedding planners that offer internships with them for you to get experience. As far as price is concerned, it depends on what you offer, the area you work in, etc. A good way to find out how much to charge and what kinds of things to offer is to check out other wedding planners websites. See what they offer and what they charge for it. There is good money in wedding planning but it also is a lot of work, mostly weekend (of course) and you really have to be ready to deal with all different types of brides. A. theknot.com is a really great website, but there are a LOT of really great websites out there. The thing that helped me the most was going to bridal shows in my area and organizing all the information in a big binder. Then I knew that all my stuff came from local vendors!! I also found it helpful to join an online community of people who were also planning weddings at the time (none of my friends are married and I'm the oldest, so I've never had any kind of experience with it) - usually you'll find them at wedding websites or on journal websites like livejournal or opendiary.
