Have the Virginia Tech Hokies ever played the Tennessee Volunteers in football?
Q. I live in Southwest Virginia and half the people either like Tennessee or they like Virginia Tech...They always argue about who would win against each other. Some of the Tennessee fans say that they played Tech at one time and creamed them badly...Is this true? Will they ever play against each other in the regular season?

A. They played in the 1994 Gator Bowl. Tennessee won 45-23. Other than that, their only games were in the 1800s and early 1900s. Being that the Vols are in the SEC and the Hokies are in the ACC and there is not a rivarly between the schools, there's no reason to schedule them for a regular season game.

Will I have a much better chance of getting in to Virginia Tech if I apply early decision?
Q. Virginia Tech is definately a reach school for me academically, but it's still my first choice... Will early decision make it alot easier to get in?

A. You would have a better chance getting in with early decision. I am just glad I attended many years ago before it got so hard to get in. I am pretty confident that I still would be able to get in (while I did not have a 4.0 in High School, I did have very good grades) even today though. I was there a few years "Pre-Vick", and back then it was relatively easy to get in, especially if you're a Virginia resident. Either way, Virginia Tech is an excellent school, and if you are sure you want to go there, then it does not hurt to apply early decision. Just apply to a couple back up schools just in case, and if you do attend VT, welcome to the Hokie family, because it really is a family regardless of age or graduating class.

Does anyone else find if curious the closeness of the Virginia Tech and Columbine shooting dates?
Q. Has anyone else noticed that Columbine happened on April 20th and the Virginia Tech happened just four days before the anniversary? Also, Hitler's birthday is on April 19th. I think the closeness in dates is kind of curious. They said the shooter planned the attack, too. It wasn't spur of the moment.

A. I think it's coincidence - except for Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City bombing was timed by McVey to be on the anniversary of the day that the FBI and ATF stormed the Branch Davidians in Waco. McVey bombed the Murrah Building two years to the day after what happened in Waco.
