Where can I spend my holidays in Victoria?
Q. I am planning to go for holidays for 3 days somewhere in Victoria. I have already been to Macedon and Beechworth. I would like to be at some place where there are lakes, waterfalls, mountains, forests, bushwalking etc. I want to be at some place which has got natural scenic beauty. Can you suggest some place? It will be good if you suggest some place where you have already been because then you know that place better. Thank You. I am relying on public transport since I don't have a car.

A. Any number of places. You could try Bright, beautiful area with all you are looking for, just a bit further on from Beechworth. If you like the sea, try Lakes Entrance, plenty of bush walks, and you can go inland to the Buchan Caves. Also some small wineries. There is P.T but it involves changing from trains to buses. Another is Rawson, north of Morwell in Gippsland. It is close to Walhalla the Gold mining town, the Thompson dam, and Mt Baw Baw. No P.T. though. Relying on P.T. makes it difficult. Maybe you could try Colac, you can get there by train and there may be tours to the Otways. Absolutely fantastic walking and waterfalls, providing they have had enough rain! Warrnambool is another you can get to by train, plenty to see down… [cont.]

What temperature in Victoria, Australia does it have to reach before school is closed for the day?
Q. Im wondering what the temperature is, when you get to go home from school. Preferably in Melbourne, Victoria. Thanks!

A. It used to be 45 degrees when I was in primary school (which was a lONG LONG time ago! (well 10 years ago) But when i left school it was still about 40-45 depending...

What would be a nice little town to live in commuting distance to Victoria University, Wellington?
Q. I may be moving to Wellington soon, and would be working at Victoria University. I like small seaside towns, or anything near a body of water. Can you think of any nice little sleepy town with scenery within, say 50kms of Wellington? Having a school and possibly even a hospital would also be a plus.

A. First place I thought of was the suburbs/areas of Porirua such as Pukerua Bay and Plimmerton. Takes about 25 mins on the train from there. If you are working at the pipitea campus this will be really convenient for you. Even if you are at the main Kelburn campus it is still a really quick bus ride (or cable car ride) up. One problem is that 50km from Wellington is a long commute if you are driving and stuck on SH1. If getting the train then it would be absolutely fine. Also, public transport runs quite late (2am Friday night/Saturday morning). The hospitals all fall under Capital and Coast Health so you have Keneperu (in Porirua), Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt and obviously the revamped one in Wellington. Schools lovely little… [cont.]
