Toyota Motor Corporation (Japanese: トヨタ自動車株式会社, Toyoda Jidōsha Kabushiki-gaisha) (TYO: 7203) is a multinational corporation headquartered in Japan, and is currently the world's largest automaker. Toyota employs approximately 316,000 people worldwide.

In 1934, while still a department of Toyota Industries, it created its first product Type A engine and in 1936 its first passenger car the Toyota AA. The company was eventually founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937 as a spinoff from his father's company Toyota Industries to create automobiles. Toyota also owns and operates Lexus and Scion brands and has a majority shareholding stake in Daihatsu and Hino Motors, and minority shareholdings in Fuji Heavy Industries, Isuzu Motors, and Yamaha Motors. The company includes 522 subsidiaries.

Toyota is headquartered in Toyota City and Nagoya (both in Aichi), and in Tokyo. In addition to manufacturing automobiles, Toyota provides financial services through its division Toyota Financial Services and also builds robots. Toyota Industries and Finance divisions form the bulk of the Toyota Group, one of the largest conglomerates in the world.

On May 8, 2009, Toyota reported a record annual net loss of US$4.4 billion, making it the latest automobile maker to be severely affected by the 2007-2009 financial crisis.

Is the Toyota Celica considered a sports car by insurance companies?
Q. I am a new driver and i have been looking around at cars. My car of preferance would be the Toyota Celica however im not sure if it can be insured to 17 year old because of the sports car label. I have looked at sites such as geico and all state for quotes but this has proven unsucessful. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

A. Just write down all cars you like then see this take the quote, they'll come back with prices from different insurers in your area. It's very quick and free of charge. When you get the quote, do not close your browser, just back up, change car then get another quote for the new car. Write it all down so you don't forget. Also write down the name of the insurer and the link to go back to them. Spend a couple of days like this, getting quotes and getting your data down till you have enough so you can now see which was the best/cheapest price. How do I match Toyota paint codes with the generic paints on the market today? Thanks!?
Q. I have a silver 1991 toyota pick-up truck. I found the paint code (147) on the door jam but have been unable to find that number on any products in auto stores (like O'reilly Auto). Does anyone have any tips on how to match this paint? I have looked online but I have only been able to find matches back to 1994 models. Thanks a lot for your time and help.

How come Toyota is one of the most profitable auto makers.Yet they have less factories in US than rivals?
Q. I have heard that Toyota is one of the most profitable auto makers and they have less factories in the US than Honda or Nissan and that most of their cars are imported ie the percentage of US made content in their cars are less. Then how come can they maintain their profitability.

Mad Jack should get his facts right,Toyota workers make the same wages as GM,Ford and Chrysler workers.There are at least 2 Toyota plants that are UAW(Tacoma,Corolla) and in Japan they do have labor unions.Half of all Toyota's sold in the US are imported,because Japan and Toyota work together to keep the yen artificially undervalued they make about $4000 average on every vehicle brought into the US.Because of this they have recently said they will not be building any more assembly plants in the US,they make more money importing the vehicles.Consumer Reports said today that Toyota's reliability and quality are falling with the Tundra motor and 4 wheel drive system problems along with the Camry transmission problems and now Ford has higher… [cont.]
