A school (from Greek σχολή (scholē), originally meaning "leisure", and also "that in which leisure is employed", "school"), is an institution designed to allow and encourage students (or "pupils") to learn, under the supervision of teachers. Most countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools vary by country (discussed in the Regional section below), but generally include primary school for young children and secondary school for teenagers who have completed primary education. In addition to these core schools, students in a given country may also have access to and attend schools both before and after primary and secondary education. Kindergarten or pre-school provide some schooling to very young children (typically ages 3-5). University, vocational school, college or seminary may be available after (or in lieu of) secondary school. A school may also be dedicated to one particular field, such as a school of economics or a school of dance. Alternative schools may provide nontraditional curriculum and methods. There are also non-government schools, called private schools. Private schools may be for children with special needs when the government does not supply for them; religious, such as Christian Schools, Khalsa Schools, Torah Schools and others; or schools that have a higher standard of education or seek to foster other personal achievements. Schools for adults include institutions of corporate training and Military education and training. In homeschooling and online schools, teaching and learning take place outside of a traditional school building. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What school would be best for getting a masters for a psych major? Q. I currently attend Bradley University. I'm finishing up my sophomore year right now and I am already looking ahead to where I want to go to graduate school. I know that Standford and Berkley are the best schools, but I'm thinking that those schools might be out of reach for me. Does anybody have any idea what certain schools GPA requirements are for admission into their graduate program? Asked by Blondecutie728 - Thu May 7 19:48:11 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. U of Michigan has a great graduate program in Psych contact them for more info Answered by Mopar Muscle Gal - Thu May 7 19:58:26 2009 Does the school day start when the child arrives at school or when the first bell rings? Q. If a student arrives at school and leaves before the first bell rings to get to class should they be required to sign out? Or should they only be required to sign out if attendance has already been taken for the first class. This is for middle school age and I am looking for other parents perspectives on this. Asked by kariba - Fri Mar 6 16:51:19 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. If the child is on campus after the bell rings, then they should need to sign out to leave regardless if attendance has been taken. If the child leaves campus before the first bell rings then they should not need to sign out. Answered by Stacielynn - Fri Mar 6 17:02:49 2009 How can I get into film school for directing?
Q. Movies have always been a passion of mine and I want to pursue a directing career. I finished high school but I'm in this work-study program until I'm 21, so I'm sort of still in school even though I graduated. Anyway, the problem is through out my time in school, I was in learning-support classes(for students with trouble learning) and I was steered away from getting into some sort of school/college. Now what I want to know is, what requirements do I need to get into film school? Where should I start from where I am now? For people experienced in this field, do you think I have a chance? Thanks for reading. Asked by musicdog87 - Sun May 20 00:13:19 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is a school in Santa Barbara that specializes in that type of thing. It's called Brooks Institute I believe. They offer scholarships, grants and loans. You should check it out. I wanted to go there but it's so far away from home. I'm a chicken! But they'll send you info and talk to you over the phone... Of course you have a chance!!
