Are there any regulations for rv construction?
Q. I live in michigan, and just wondering yet another random thing. I know in order to be considered an rv, a unit must contain I believe either a bathroom, or a kitchen, or sleeping quarters. If someone could clarify that, it would be wonderful. More importantly, are there any regulations on rv construction, such as materials, safety, etc. Can I build one out of cardboard and aluminum foil? lol, just wondering.

A. The RVIA sets standards and does testing for manufactured RVs. There are no standards for a home built RV in MI other than the motor vehicle code and certain rules for the use of propane. good luck

Are there any interracial couples that full time RV?
Q. My fiancee and I are an interracial couple, obviously assuming I'm white which I am(screen name usually gives that away. Lol) - Anyway, we are thinking of full-time RVing at a campground locally as a way to save money and with that we'd have a substantial amount saved yearly. Yet I've looked into most of the campgrounds close to our work and near our families and this may sound hypocritical but they're filled with a bunch of same race couples and a lot of them have confederate flags posted by their RV's. Granted I have a few of those flags myself but I was curious on the safety or if there is any other interracial couples that live in an RV full time? If so; in a somewhat non-diverse area is it safe? I'd hate to move in and be harassed… [cont.]

A. You're in an RV. If someone harasses you. Move. It's that simple. It's the same thing you would face if you moved into a Brick and Mortar house. If someone harasses you, call the cops. They are there to protect you. There might be a few narrow minded people in this world. But overall people are much more accepting of others. I find it interesting that you're being Racist and Judgmental when you admit that you own the same flag they do. Why is it so hard for you to believe that perhaps someone might think just like you and find your lifestyle acceptable and still fly the Confederate Flag? Not to mention. They are campgrounds. People come and go.

12 volt lighting for Home?
Q. Just thinking thing over. Want to install a 120 volt AC to12 volt DC converter, as the ones found in most RV's. The 12 volt would be used power 12 volt light fixtures as one found in RV's, and Marine crafts. The 12 volts could be used with a solar panel. The solar panel would be used to charge a 12 volt battery(s), and the 12 volt battery could be used to power the lights during the night. I thought of using resistors for each light within the low voltage lighting electrical wires to control even distribution of lighting. The 12 volt distribution panel can as a battery charger when needed. This panel is rated a 50 amps. A few more 12 volt recessed lights mostly rated at 10 watts and these are xenon lights. A. Just not very realistic. You're talking about 120W. of incandescent light for an entire house. It's about enough for one large room. A refrigerator will draw about 800W. while running, a microwave or toaster 1200-1500W.
