Mosaic Facts

Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other material. It may be a technique of decorative art, an aspect of interior decoration or of cultural and spiritual significance as in a cathedral. Small pieces, normally roughly cubic, of stone or glass of different colors, known as tesserae, (diminutive tessellae), are used to create a pattern or picture.

Where can I find this Bombay Mosaic Sconce?
Q. My wife bought two of these a few months ago, from Bombay. Unfortunately, she accidentally broke one, and since Bombay is out of business now, we cannot find them. How can I find out about this Mosaic Cross?
Q. It is a micro mosaic cross that opens. Inside has a smaller cross which has cut pieces of paper with letters. The letters are random, they go down and also across. Didn't even realize at first that there was anything inside. Where could this be from, or when? Its made of nickel silver and has no markings. A nun said it was around the 1900's and that the contents of the inner cross was blessed by a saint.
