us permanent resident visa requirements for cruise to mexico?
Q. I'm planning to go on a cruise to mexico and was wondering if I need a visa? My country of citizen is NOT one of those who generally do not need a visa to Mexico but I am holding a US greencard (permanent residence). I called the rep @ cruise; she told me to call mexico embassy which I did and nobody returned my call. Anybody knows if passport and greencard would be sufficient for my travel?

A. I answered your previous question. i just now went back to look at the list of countries that do and do not need visas to visit Mexico and found something new. Under the list of countries that do NOT need a visa, it says," this option also applies for permanent legal residents of the U.S. " So you do NOT need a visa. See the website below and read the section just under the list of countries.

A. As a U.S. green card holder you are visa waived to visit Mexico as tourist for up to 180 days. You just need your valid Russian passport your valid Form I-551 (Green Card) an MFTTV (Migration Form for Tourists, Transmigrants, Visiting Businesspersons, or Visiting Consultants) which must be filled out. The form can be obtained from travel agencies, from flight companies, or at the Mexican land border. Source(s):

A. i'm a US permanent resident (foreign passport holder) and i've been to mexico so i know what i'm talking about. no, you do not need a visa to go to mexico if you have a green card. all you need to present is your foreign passport and your green card and you're good to go. coming back into the US, all you need to show to the immigration officer is just your green card, not the passport. that's all they care about pretty much. although of course, you would be in possession of your passport since you needed it going into mexico... and if you're flying, you definitely need a passport.

A. Hello Joanna, your question is one of the few where I can not provide a comprehensive and fundamental answer. The link to the website of the Zimbabwean Ministry of Foreign Affairs seems to be broken. I usually use the database of aircraft companies to get information in such a case which would reveal a visa requirement for air travel. However Mexico has different requirements for air and sea travel. I know for sure that a Philippine passport holder normally requires a visa which is waived for travel on cruise ships. I therefore can only advise to get information from the cruise ship company before final booking or get in touch with a mexican consulate. I would not rely on the link of the first contributor. It contains wrong and outdated… [cont.]

A. I believe that for the J2 visa, only children over the age of 14 need to attend. But you should check with the Consulate themselves just to be on the safe side.

Q. My friend and I are travelling to Mexico and she is a Portuguese citizen does she need a visa?
Asked by Adelaide V - Mon Apr 2 19:37:30 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, she won't need one, as long as you're entering as tourists (rather than to study or work.) Citizens from certain countries are exempt from needing Mexican visas -- Portugal is one of those countries (for the record, so is the U.S.) What she WILL need, however -- in fact, what you'll both need -- is a valid passport with at least six months of validity on it and a round-trip ticket. You'll also both need to be issued with tourist cards, but these will be handed out on the plane, and are free of charge. If for some reason you miss them on the plane, you'll be able to get one at the airport -- though it helps to have it filled out before you hand it over to the customs officer, so you might as well do it on the plane if you can. How easy is it to get a visa for studying or working in Mexico?
Q. I'm European, from an EU state. How easy is it to get a student visa (I have finished university, so would need to enroll as an independent student probably) or a work visa to live in Mexico? I would be interested in either studying or working for a year in Monterrey. If work visa is relatively easy to get, should I first get a job offer from a company in Mexico? I'm a bit curious if I should just start to apply for jobs - I'm afraid that hiring international people could be as expensive for the companies as in US... If anyone has got a work or student visa and permits as a European student, how much did they cost and how fast were they to get? What do I need before contacting Mexican embassy or consulate?

A. It is essentially the same way you received a business visa to go to Mexico - Apply at the US Embassy Mexico City (or one of the consulates). First make an appointment on-line, fill out the application, pay the non-refundable US$100.00 fee, gather up all of your documents and then keep your appointment. See the site below for full details:

Do I need a visa to go to Mexico if I have a nigerian passport but also swedish citizenship?
Q. I was born in nigeria but recieved swedish citizenship about 3 years ago. Do I need a visa to go to mexico and what are the requirements for the visa if I need it?
Asked by breenwoods - Sun Jun 10 01:28:00 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you are now a citizen of Sweden, you should get a Swedish Passport. Holders of Swedish passports do NOT need a special visa to enter Mexico. You would get a tourist card good for up to 180 days on the plane. The cost of this card is about $22.00 U.S. If you still also have Nigerian citizenship and wish to travel on your Nigerian passport, you WILL need to apply for a visa to visit Mexico. The first website below gives the list to read for yourself...of the nationalities tnat do and do not need visas to visit Mexico. All info is in Spanish.
