Nounmanufacturers
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to make things for use or sale. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users - the "consumers". Manufacturing takes turns under all types of economic systems. In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more frequently directed by the state to supply a centrally planned economy. In free market economies, manufacturing occurs under some degree of government regulation. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product's components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead. The manufacturing sector is closely connected with engineering and industrial design. Examples of major manufacturers in the United States include General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Boeing, Gates Rubber Company and Pfizer. Examples in Europe include Airbus, Daimler, BMW, Fiat, and Michelin Tyre. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by Glad you asked - Sat Nov 3 01:53:46 2007 Why do car manufacturers make hybrid and electric cars ugly?
Q. It seems as though most hybrid and/or electric cars built by the big manufacturers are very ugly to look at. Why is this? One could almost get the impression that they don't want them to sell. Asked by John P - Sat Mar 15 13:16:39 2008 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments A. Your question doesn't make much sense to me. Most hybrids look identical to the non-hybrid model version. The only hybrid that looks different is the Prius, because it has no non-hybrid version, and is designed that way in order to make it the most aerodynamic car on the road, which is part of the reason it's got the best fuel economy available. The Civic hybrid looks like the Civic, the Explorer hybrid looks like the Explorer, the Camry hybrid looks like the Camry, etc. etc. As for EVs, for one thing again they have to make them aerodynamic, and there's not a big market for new technology anyway, so they're trying to make the cars appealing by making them look 'futuristic' or 'cool'. What you think is 'ugly' another person will think… [cont.] Answered by Dana1981, Master of Science - Sat Mar 15 13:54:01 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "manufacturers" Rising Diesel Costs Crimp Truckers, Manufacturers
