NounSingular manufacturer Plural manufacturers manufacturer (plural manufacturers)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Manufacturing is the use of machines, tools and labor to make things for use or sale. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial production, in which raw materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other, more complex products, such as household appliances or automobiles, or sold to wholesalers, who in turn sell them to retailers, who then sell them to end users - the "consumers". Manufacturing takes turns under all types of economic systems. In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more frequently directed by the state to supply a centrally planned economy. In free market economies, manufacturing occurs under some degree of government regulation. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product's components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead. The manufacturing sector is closely connected with engineering and industrial design. Examples of major manufacturers in the United States include General Motors Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Boeing, Gates Rubber Company and Pfizer. Examples in Europe include Airbus, Daimler, BMW, Fiat, and Michelin Tyre. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I'm thinking of getting into ultralight flying. What ultralight manufacturer do you recommend and why? I'm looking at real planes (rigid frame and wings) not those lawnmowers strapped to hang gliders. Please include the manufacturer's link, if possible. . Asked by Pakyuol - Wed Oct 15 07:00:40 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. There is so many ultralight aircraft to choose from don't let someone tell you which one to buy, do the research yourself. And there are so many variables. Do you want tandem seating or single seat, metal or fabric, also consider where your parts will be coming from and how long the company has been in business. That aside I personally would build the RV-12 from Vans Aircraft. It is far from a flying lawnmower. Aluminum construction is one of the easiest and most enjoyable forms of building an aircraft also. www.vansaircraft.com Also check this very active and helpful builders forum. www.vansairforce.net Answered by idreamRV - Thu Oct 16 09:34:58 2008 How do I find a manufacturer for my invention? Q. I have an invention going through the patent process. How do I shop around for the best priced manufacturer with the capability to produce my invention? thanks astoneybro but I looked them up and found a report on the Federal Trade Commission that they have 48 claims of fraud and misrepresentation of their services to the patent holder. They charge thousands of dollars to promote an invention and then just stiff their clients. But I do appreciate the response. Q. How do you go about specifying a garment design to a manufacturer to get quotations/estimates for the garment. Is there a standard way to provide this information to the manufacturer? Asked by Henry - Wed Jan 14 01:18:24 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. according to my working experiences in garment company ( only half year, i am doing export at that time ). you'd better doing following if you want to get it done exactly: 1. send a drawing of the garment you need, meanwhile, send sample cloth you need to finish the garment. 2. or , it will be more easy finish and protect misunderstanding: send a sample to them.
