Can guppies live with out a heater in their tank?
Q. I want to get a new fish tank and I have never had guppies. I was wondering if they could live without a heater. I am getting about 3 male fancy tail guppies and they are going to live in a tank with just them, some gravel, and a few artiffcial plants. So if anyone has the answer PLEASE let me know as soon as posible Thank you!

A. Unless you live in an usually warm climate, these guys need a heater. They are tropical fish and thrive in warmer water. It will need to be around 78F.

What live plants are safe for my aquarium fish?
Q. I have a needlefish, a red pacu, a tiger oscar, a leporinus, a plecostamus (sp?), and a number of feeder rosies. What are safe live plants that I can add to my tank without hurting my fish, and that won't get destroyed by them?

A. i use this store to help me with 'safe' plants to buy: 'hornwort' is not on that list, but i do know that my goldfish and plecos do not eat it. and i grows like hell. * if you do end up buying a plant that your fish like to nibble on, you can deter them from eating that plant by adding cabbage, lettuce leaves every now and them. give your plecos cucumber... **also, if the plant is aquatic, and bought from an aquarium plant dealer, it probably wont hurt your fish.

What town shall I live in the USA that is similar to Georgetown, DC or an english town?
Q. My husband and I will be moving to the states soon, I am english and we currently live in Surrey. When we move, I want to live somewhere that is similar to England and is a bit historic with an outdoor town. I really like Georgetown, DC but it is much too expensive. I also like Charleston, SC. Does any one know any other towns similar to these?

A. I am a native of Pittsburgh, PA and let me say...it is a very affordable place to live. Pittsburgh is often ranked number one as the most liveable city in the USA. It has relatively low crime. It has good hospitals, good education for children, good education for adults (many universities and colleges), and good food. Pittsburgh also has a good symphony orchestra and some interesting attractions like skiing in the nearby mountains, if you are into that. The only downside of Pittsburgh is that it has very little night life. People really don't live in the city, it's mostly office buildings, so after 6 PM on a weekday, it's dead. Because of this, it is not as quaint as Georgetown, with its many small shops and eateries and coffee… [cont.]
