What is the difference between german and american bloodlines in German Shepherds?
Q. I'm looking at German Shepherds, researching them, and I was wondering if people could tell me more about the german and american lines. I already know a lot about GSDs.

A. German lines are bred more for strong bone structure and working ability, The dogs are larger and stronger. They have more of a natural protective instinct and willingness to work. American/Canadian lines are bred more for apperance,showing, and slanted backs, they make better family pets because they arent as intense as the German lines.

Whats the difference between high german and low german?
Q. Me and a friend of mine both claimed to be able to count to 10 in german. We both decided to count at the same time, we stopped at 2 because we had different 2's. She went home and asked her mother who told her that there is a high german and low german, why is there such thing and whats the difference?

A. I just heard of this recently and looked it up. Low German is an older version. There was a vowel change in 7th/8th century and they did not include it. Sounds like Dutch. High German is prettier and sounds more Bavarian and of course they made the changes along the way. The dialects are spoken in different geographic areas (low mostly Northern coastal) and interestingly, speakers of each language may not understand the other at all. High German is also found in France. Neither are considered standard German.
