How to determine which mutual or index funds are best to invest in?
Q. Hi, I am new to this area of finance and have no experience or backround education in it. I wanted to know how to determine which funds are the best to invest in. I have read some material online (limited myselfto top performing funds) but still feel vulnerable since I don't feel I have knowledge whatsoever to feel confident that a particular fund is what will be suitable for me. Are there any indicators which one should look while chooosing mutual funds?

A. Its best to invest in an index funds because it has little or no management fees. Picking the right one depends on your style and risk tolerance. The SPY and IWM are good index that follow the S&P and Russell 2000.

How trustworthy are these mutual funds? Are they not gambling with public money without any control?
Q. If the mutual funds are not designed to generate better returns for investors, who do not want to mess up with the stock markets, why should the MFs be allowed to collect public money? If their fund managers are there to say, "fund value is down because the market is down," what credibility rests with them to be placed as fund managers?

A. Mutual funds are designed to limit risk. When the whole market goes down, it is impossible for the MF not to go down. Its purpose is to minimize risk, and increase profits in good times with a safety net. There are mutual funds that are money markets. These funds are the safest right now, but with minimal returns. Mutual funds are trustworthy over a span of time. Even bond funds are down!

A. 1 - login to your Paypal account 2 - click My Account tab 3 - click Withdraw 4 - click Transfer to Bank Account 5 - put in the amount you want to withdraw 6 - click transfer This assumes of course that you have a bank account verified by Paypal (you went through the Paypal verification process)
