What CPA firm has the best reputation for quality of work? and work environment?
Q. Please, no local firms. I want to know what people think is the best between the Big 4 and second tier. KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, PwC, Grant Thornton, BKD, BDO, etc. (I am sure I left a few out). Let me know which firm (or firms if they are different for quality and environment) and WHY you think so.

A. I think it is PwC...they rank above D&T and E&Y in the Fortune 100 list of best firms to work for. PwC is a much larger CPA firm than any of the rest. D&T is not a pure CPA firm and has myriad businesses all competing for attention and sometimes with each other. All firms have had their fair share of restatements and have paid millions of dollars in penalties and fines to the SEC.

How do I go about finding a marketing firm for my online business?
Q. I have an online designer handbag business and I would really like find a firm that will help to market my company. Due to my four hour commute plus a nine-hour work day, I just don't have the time to do it myself. I want a reputable company, but one that won't clean me out financially. I welcome any suggestions you can give me!

A. Consider contacting the marketing department head of your local university. Tell the dept. head you want to hire a team to work with you - obviously at student rates. Always be prepared to pay for these services; student hires (if you get the right students) can be a great 'buy'. The students will want to do good work for you because it helps to build their portfolios (plus you will pay them). And they will be able to invest time into the project in a way that you can't (especially with a 13 hour long day). Good luck.
