Developed Countries Facts

The term developed country is used to describe countries that have a high level of development according to some criteria. Which criteria, and which countries are classified as being developed, is a contentious issue and there is fierce debate about this. Economic criteria have tended to dominate discussions. One such criterion is income per capita and countries with high gross domestic product (GDP) per capita being described as developed countries. Another economic criterion is industrialization. Countries in which the tertiary and quaternary sectors of industry dominate being described as developed. More recently another measure, the Human Development Index, which combines with an economic measure, national income, with other measures, indices for life expectancy and education has become prominent. Developed countries being those with a high (HDI) rating. However, many anomalies exist when determining "developed" status by whichever measure is used.

Countries not fitting such definitions are classified as developing countries.

why are telecommunication rates more expensive in developed countries?
Q. a simple observation of mine: that telecommunication rates which i refer them to be mobile call rates, SMS rates, are more expensive in developed countries rather than developing countries. why is this so? isn't is supposed to be the other way round. it's pretty expensive in Singapore, i am originally from a less developed Asian country and the rates there are so much cheaper. the quality is more or less the same, though. what are your opinions?

That is how they skim & fleece people and make tons of money.I know for one that Pakistan mobile as well as fixed line telephone companies offer one of the cheapest & lowest calling rates in the world for local,long distance and international calls.Try calling any mobile telephone in Europe and you will feel like committing suicide because they charge very heavily for calling a mobile number,while in Pakistan incoming calls are free & there is no roaming charge for the entire country.

My friend told me there were organisation for people who want to work in other countries that are less developed, helping to build homes and give vitamins to the children and helping them farm and what not.
