Cattle (colloquially cows) are the most common type of large domesticated ungulates. They are a prominent modern member of the subfamily Bovinae, are the most widespread species of the genus Bos, and are most commonly classified collectively as Bos primigenius. Cattle are raised as livestock for meat (beef and veal), as dairy animals for milk and other dairy products, and as draft animals (pulling carts, plows and the like). Other products include leather and dung for manure or fuel. In some countries, such as India, cattle are sacred. It is estimated that there are 1.3 billion cattle in the world today. In 2009, cattle became the first livestock animal to have its genome mapped.

If the hamburger recall happened from contaminated feed being fed to cattle, Why is hamburger recalled only?
Q. I am very serious, The meat processors claim the cattle was contaminated, and the cattle ranchers say the feed they bought and fed to their cattle was bad so why aren't steaks and roasts as well being recalled ? It all comes from the same cattle.

A. That's a really good question. And you're right it's the same cattle. The truth is that the E. coli is in the processing plant somewhere and contaminated the meat. Usually, when cattle are slaughtered the hide is stripped off and there is ample opportunity for dirt or animal feces to contaminate the outside of the carcass. Normally it is washed off with steam or acid and the meat is then safe. Another possible source of contamination is within the plant itself. either employees or unclean equipment. Maybe the sanitation crew just missed a spot. In either case it is post slaughter contamination and not from cattle feed. It is quite possible that the cattle are carrying E. coli in their intestinal track, I'm not a vet so I don't… [cont.]

How much do I charge for Australian Cattle dog stud service?
Q. I have a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (blue heeler). He just contributed to the first and only littler with my other blue heeler. When I was selling the puppies, a man asked me how much I would charge for stud service. I had never considered doing that before. What is the average stud service price for Australian Cattle Dogs? to ULCRM: I don't appreciate YOUR vulgar and condescending remarks. I love animals and am NOT a "backyard breeder." In case you didn't read... this is a 1 and only litter. You don't know where I live and don't know what I'm about. Don't dump your convictions on me, I have my own. I hope that not all "professional breeders" (as you like to call yourself) and others of the like are as prejudice and judgmental as… [cont.]

A. You seem to really love both of your dogs, so I am urging you to reconsider what you are thinking of doing. First, your accidental litter was caused by you not getting your dogs fixed when you got them. Pets really don't need to remain intact, and if you have a male and female, it is the best thing to do. Australian Cattle dogs are one of the hardest breeds to raise and train. They can be very aggressive and are not usually good with children. Because of this, many ACDs are dying in kill shelters every year. People turn them in because they cannot control them and often feel threatened by the dog. These dogs were bred to do a job, and not allowing them to do this is a sure way to make an unhappy ACD. ACD rescue groups get tons of calls… [cont.]

Why does Canada have a separate law for cruelty to cattle?
Q. Out of curiosity, Canada has a law for animal abuse which punishable with a fine and/or a 6 month jail sentence while if you abuse cattle you can be punished with a 5 year jail sentence. Anyone know why someone created this law?

A. without knowing what laws you are referring to... cattle are chattels and have a value. they are routinely slaughtered and you may be referring to the laws that apply to this.
