A campsite (UK camping pitch) is a place used for overnight stay in the out of doors. The term 'campsite' usually means an area where an individual, family, group or military unit might camp. There are two types of campsites:

  • an impromptu area (as one might decide to stop while backpacking or hiking)
  • a dedicated area with improvements and various facilities (see below).

A campground is a group of dedicated campsites with common amenities.

What is the name of the campground in Spokane Washington that you have to go by a very smelly plant to get to?
Q. It is a campground by Spokane. I believe it is a state campground, but maybe not. On the road there, well before the campground there is a very stinky factory of some sort. I would like to go back to this campground but don't remember the name or where it was.

How close is Frontier land campground from Assateague Island National Seashore?
Q. When is the best time to see the wild ponies? If you visited this campground tell me if you enjoyed your experience. I know it is in the wrong section. No one answered it in the right section. I do not need the link to the campground since I have it already. If it was my campground or any business for that matter I will speak very highly of it and paint everything in the best possible colors. I would rather hear from an unbiased party. Thank you for your answer.

A. Here is the link for the campground. It is listed as Ocean City, Maryland. They can surely give you really accurate information on most of your questions. about a 20-minute drive from Ocean City to the National Seashore. Many years ago I camped at Assateague Island State Park, at the northern end of the island. We saw a few ponies there. More can be seen further south, at the National Seashore, and even more at the wildlife refuge even further south. (Chincoteague)

Q. We are planning on a trip to Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Va. We have rented the houseboat, but this year we want to camp and put our own boat in the water. We are looking for a campground where we can set up tent on by the water where we can put our boat and be able to see it as well. Can anyone help me please?

A. I suggest you re-ask this under in the "travel" section. You will be more likely to hear from more people who know the area.
