The American National Standards Institute or ANSI (pronounced /ˈænsiː/) is a private non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. The organization also coordinates U.S. standards with international standards so that American products can be used worldwide. For example, standards make sure that people who own cameras can find the film they need for that camera anywhere around the globe.

ANSI accredits standards that are developed by representatives of standards developing organizations, government agencies, consumer groups, companies, and others. These standards ensure that the characteristics and performance of products are consistent, that people use the same definitions and terms, and that products are tested the same way. ANSI also accredits organizations that carry out product or personnel certification in accordance with requirements defined in international standards.

The organization's headquarters are in Washington, DC. ANSI's operations office is located in New York City.

How many ANSI lumens do I need to get a good image?
Q. How many ANSI lumens do I need to get a good image?

A. The calculators on the thread above are a little conservative. Anything over 1000 lumens should be just fine even with enough ambient light to read by. You should look for at least a 2000:1 contrast ratio though. weeder

When buying a beamer how should i interpret the ansi lumen, which range is optimal for 2 hour montly views?
Q. We are a small charity organisation and every month we have meetings where we present slides and videos to volunteers. Up till now we have been renting a beamer each time, which is very costly. Since we are a dependant on donations, we have very limited financial resources. So now we are considering buying a beamer for around $800-$900.

A. The lumen rating of a projector is the amount of light it puts out. The higher the lumens, the brighter the picture. The brighter the picture, the easier it is to see in a daylight room. With lower lumens, you might need to be closer to the screen or darken the room somehow.

IS ANSI C the same as the turbo C language?
Q. is the programming procedure different for these two languages? can we use ansi c to write a program that was meant to be written using c?
Asked by krissy - Mon Dec 10 08:34:42 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. How many times i'Ve said in yahoo answers that "TURBO C" is just a "SOFTWARE" that allows you to program through c...Turbo C is not at all a programming ''language''...The Only Difference between these languages is One change added in ANSI C, explicitly for the purpose of letting the programmer recognize an ANSI C implementation and take advantage of some of the new features added to the language, is that "__STDC__" has the value of "1". The idea is that traditional-C compilers won't define "__STDC__", so you can put "#if __STDC__" into your source file, and that'll do all you need.
