Secession Facts

Secession (derived from the Latin term secessio) is the act of withdrawing from an organization, union, or especially a political entity. It is not to be confused with succession, the act of following in order or sequence.

Should Texas be denied flu medicine from the federal government since they are considering secession?
Q. A few weeks ago, Governor Rick Perry of Texas more or less threatened secession if the federal government continues to "thumb their nose at the American people." Now he is calling for reserves of of flu medicine from who? The federal government - big, liberal, tax and spend, federal government. Should Texas be allowed to have any help from the federal government since they hate it so much and wanted to secede just weeks ago? Isn't it ironic that the very same federal government Governor Perry insulted is now who is is begging for help? Shouldn't Texas have its own reserves of flu medicine?

A. The causes of the Civil War are numerous, the straw that broke the camel's back was the election of Lincoln under the new "Republican party" They felt that the republicans were too pro-abolition and would there by strip the power of the southern states by not allowing any new slave states into the union. That would have swayed the balance to the north.
