Can a stip of metal or metals bend due to electricity running through it?
Q. In phyics class I saw that a strip of metals made up of two diffferent metals bend because the metals expand at different rates. Is there a metal or metals that bend due to electricity running through them? Is this possible? What kind of metals?

A. any metal which heats because of internal resistances should bend or curl. Extreme heat. I would say ordinary sheet metal of steel would do it quite easily. Copper and other metals maybe not so much. Some metals might just act like fuses and burn open...like copper.

How to install a metal futon mattress hold?
Q. I bought this metal futon a couple days ago and put it together despite the horrible directions. I still didn't install the last part, the metal holds that keep the mattress from sliding off the frame. The horrible directions do not explain how the part fits so if anyone has any experience please answer. Thanks.

A. The futon I put together had 2 "holds" they were positioned about 18 inches in from the ends on the bottom part of the futon they just hooked into 2 small holes in the frame on each piece they stick up about 2 inches above the frame. I eventually took mine off because we kept hitting the holds when we would sit down (we had a cheap thin mattress)the mattress would stay in place after a couple weeks. I hope this helps. Good luck

What do most metal surfaces have in common with ceramic materials?
Q. Studying bio materials and I need to know the answer to the above answer. Somehow I don't think the answer is ceramics have metal components, but if that's the answer then I guess I read to deep into the question.

A. Most metal surfaces are protected by an oxide film. Essentially these are layers a few atoms thick of ceramics on the surface of the metal. Two good examples of this are Aluminum and Chromium in stainless steel alloys.
