Selling an RV if you hold a promissory note.?
Q. I hold a promissory note on an RV that the debtor has not paid the monthly installment for over 6 months. Can I sell the RV as I hold the title or do I have to notify them. Can they sell it if I say that's is OK to do? The RV is over 150 miles away so I cannot just get up there in a hurry. Thanks.

A. You can reposses it and then sell it. They can sell it if they pay off the note to you. Then give the buyer a free and clear title.

We are selling our rv to a private party. How do we proceed and transfer title?
Q. We are going to sell our camper to a privat individual and will be needing to transfer title etc. We will have to pay off current loan. What is the best way to go about this?
Asked by Janna - Thu Jul 30 19:15:49 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Before you can sign over the title, you will need the title. The company that has your loan either has the title or an electronic copy of the title. You will have to give the buyer a bill of sale, pay off the loan and ask for immediate release of the lien on the title. If the loan company releases the lien or gives you a release of lien paper, you can take that to the division of motor vehicles where you will be able to complete the paperwork to transfer the vehicle to another person.

Where can I get a contract form 4 selling my RV to someone who will make payments for 1 yr & then purchase it?
Q. My husband and I are selling our RV and found a buyer through our church but that doesn't mean that we want to just automatically trust him to make payments and then purchase it without some sort of contract that doesn't leave us high and dry if something happens. This fellow church member is honest and trustworthy enough for us to agree to a payment method, but he will also be taking possession of the RV while making payments. We are financing the RV through a bank and will not be able to pay it off until this buyer is financed and is able to give us the necessary remainder of money to pay off our contract and lien with our bank. Where should I look for the best form for this sort of transaction?
Asked by Marge in Michigan - Tue Apr 3 17:04:02 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Go to microsoft works and type up your own contract (make several copies). Don't leave out any details. All copies should have everyone's signature. Make sure you have something specific in regards to what happens if the buyer is delinquint on payments. Also, make a copy of the purchaser's driver's license and photocopy it to the contract. I've done this before and it works great. In case he/she defaults on the payments, it's all in the contract.

Owner doing repairs on RV before selling it to me: is it a lemon?
Q. I am in the process of buying a 1983 Fleetwood Pace Arrow. The owner is doing five or six repairs (alternator, carburetor, batteries) on it before selling it to me. I test drove it and it ran fine. Does this mean that it will have lots of problems after I buy it, or will it have fewer or no problems since he's fixing them before selling it to me?
Asked by The Wasp - Tue Nov 13 16:28:24 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You will have fewer problems, BUT you ARE going to have problems non-the-less. Rv's are like that. I took a trip to the desert this past W/E in mine, and the backup cam/monitor burned out, the entry door latch malfunctioned, and I discovered a water leak in the pump compartment. Here is a good site for RV owners that is FULL of facts and advice for new or older owners.

is it better off to buy a older RV with less milage or a newer RV with very high milage?
Q. I am looking into buying an used RV, in case I am selling the RV in few years, what will be better way to go? They are both very similar model: 1991 model with 54,000 miles on it, or a 2001 model with 130,000 miles
Asked by ebichen - Thu Dec 4 20:06:56 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When you buy or sell a used RV, it's good to establish the blue book value for the RV. You'll probably need to do this first, since you didn't mention a price for either one. To establish the blue book value for an RV make a list of the brand, year, model, features, mileage, condition, how it's been stored, and and info on accidents and maintenance that's available. Then you're ready to check several online blue book value reference sites to compare your RV. Something you can't set a price on is how you feel about either RV. Do you feel happy or feel like you'd be settling for either one? Have you set your budget, and are you getting the most for your dollar? Also, talk to a mechanic to get an idea of the upcoming maintenance costs… [cont.]

Job selling RVs. Not too sure whether it's a good idea?
Q. My husband interviewed today for a RV sales position. They explained that they paid him a draw of minimum wage and then applied his commissions to that. They also said that all their sales people were doing okay even though the industry has tanked. I'm worried that my husband won't sell enough to ever make more than minimum wage. Anyone tell me how this type of pay works? Do you think that selling RVs right now would be wise?

A. Well you have to understand your husband wants to get back to work. There are thousands and thousands of husbands who want to provide a good living for their families...its rough...and not going to get any better and time soon. I would not do the RV sales position. It would take time away from finding a real job. I'm lucky I have my finances in line and I know I have hundreds of associates and friends that are in the same boat I am. None of them are thinking of purchasing any type of RVs...I would support your husbands continued search for better work...

Has anyone ever taken over RV payment with bad credit?
Q. I recently sold my RV, which I bought while I had good credit. I settled many credit cards, and my credit sucks. I know it will take a while to bring it back to par. Is it common to take over a payment on an RV with bad credit? Is it common for the owner to finance theirselves? I use the RV's as a way of living. I am into large rigs.

A. There are some sites that mention owner finance and easy credit. The next thing they should say is not that easy and huge down payment required. Your bank is your best bet.

I was fired from a RV sales job for lying about drinking at lunch with clients and co-workers.?
Q. One year later the companies general manager has personally stopped over to my home to offer me my position back. I was top salesman consistantly for the 4 years I worked there. The GM informed me that sales currently are slumping and the concenses is that I could stimulate sales and other salesman. Extremely flattering, but selling RV's in MI now is a concern. And I am currently selling less presigous home improvement products making a simular wage but travel expenses are high. I am asking for advice on what to do. Take the RV job with the strong option for Sales Manager and risk of low sales. Or stay put with current position where sales arealso rocky but picking up.

A. Son, This ol' country boy read your question, went to the patio, smoked a cigerette, and thought of my choice, about 40 years ago. Seems to me that the home improvement business and the R V business should pretty well run hand in hand with the local economy, the home improvment sales laging somewhat behind the R V sales. IF the past is no longer a factor in your employment, take the R V job, provided that you and all--All of the boss'S are on the same page, in the song book !!! It may sound corny to you, but I suggest that you ( and all others, apply the following to your life) Life is too short to : Wear badly fitting boots, Drink cheap whiskey, Dance with a mean woman, and not pass on knowledge gleaned / learned from your own… [cont.]

If you could either: move anywhere in the country or roam around in an RV, which would you do?
Q. Ward just retired. He has consented to move out of this ice bucket. (Alaska) I want to move to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. He wants to sell our house, buy an RV and cruise around the country so we have no bills and no taxes etc...He said we could visit each child for a month, just hook up the RV home to their electric, and then move on a month later. I'm not sure I want to feel like a turtle. I'm not ever sure what I am asking here to tell you the truth.

A. I would definitely want a real house somewhere to call home. Even a modest house in small town where taxes and housing costs are low. But I am not a big "on the road" traveler anyway, so the whole RV thing sounds like nightmare to me. Plus, imagine when gas gets back to $4.00/gallon... you will just be parked and unable to drive anywhere.

A. Hi, I'm in HR. Here's my advice: Don't say a word. First of all, no one rewards going over a supervisor's head and it won't make you look good. It also won't get rid of him but it might get rid of you. Second, don't think that management hasn't noticed what a terrible job he's doing. If you are behind in your goals and nothing is happening, then believe me, they have noticed. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, so for now, do your best to work with what you've got. It's his superiors who have to get rid of him, and they will, but that can take time.
