best localities to live in chennai?
Q. hi can any one suggest me some best localities to live in chennai. basically, what i mean my best is that, with no water problems and no frequest power cut/voltagedrop problems. few places that i have in mind is numgambakkam, adyar, besant nagar and anna nagar east. please provide your views.

A. Adyar and Besant Nagar will only fit into your criteria. Nungambakkam is congested and deep into the city's business area and so is Anna Nagar. But the rent and the sft. rate if you wish to buy is exorbitant. Besant Nagar, will give you view of the bay, if you can get a place facing the beach.

Which of the following localities would not be a likely environment for a sedimentary rock to form?
Q. (Delta Lagoon Reef Estuary Mountain Peak - Lake Alluvial Fan)
Asked by jffyone - Sat Feb 10 10:34:06 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, mountain peak. Sediment washes in to deltas, lagoons, estuaries, and is formed by life around a reef. These environments also tend to occur in low lying areas, where the land may be slowly 'subsiding', thus preserving the sediment by protecting it from later erosion. In contrast, mountains are areas of 'uplift'. They are sites of long-term heavy erosion. Sediment is transported towards lower-lying areas.

A. Come on people, the 10th amendment limits the states to regulating powers not delegated or prohibited by the Constitution. The "right of the people", used only 3 times in the bill of rights, means in every case, PEOPLE, not some government entity. Funny how the so-called right of gays to get married must be put into effect immediately but a clear Constitutional right has to wait months for a dishonest government to to figure how to circumvent. The U.S. citizens should go out today and buy firearms and tell the mayor of DC to shove one up his a$$.

how can we act on the levels of locality and individuals to remove the problem of child labour in India?
Q. Please think before giving the answer. Please focus on why the child labour is prevalant in India. Please consider while answering the problems of parents of those children, the problems of the people who use these children as labourers, what can be done to improve the situation on both the sides.
Asked by Ann S - Thu Mar 20 10:43:25 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have to agree with the others and say that the root of this is poverty. Children work because their families need the money. I'm sure no one is sending children to work while the adults lay idle, so we need to look at why with, most likely at least two adults in the family working, they still don't have enough to support their family. That would be their wages and the cost of necessities like food, clothes and lodging. So wages need to go up and costs need to go down. A simplestic answer to be sure, but many times it helps to cut out all of the big words and go to the very simplist point, then work your way from there.

Should states grant localities more policymaking authority, or should they continue2 limit local gov'tal power
Q. Dillion's rule severely limits the discretionary authoritty of localities. As such, despite providing basic public services, local governments are limited in their capacity to engage in policy innovation and policy experimentation. So Should states grant localities more policymaking authority, or should they continue to limit local governmental power to avoid policy confusion and provide for policy consistency within states.

What geographical locality had the most consecutive days above 100F?
Q. Do the archives show when this occurred and when?

A. I recall this being listed in the Guiness Book of World Records at one point. I think it was a town in Australia, and I think Death Valley may have held the record for consecutive days over 120 F (43?). I'll see if I can track this down in one of my books. EDIT: I found a reference to it online: "Longest hot spell (world): Marble Bar, W. Australia, 100 F (38 C) (or above) for 162 consecutive days, Oct. 30, 1923 to Apr. 7, 1924."

How do I keep away unwanted visitors to our community garden ?
Q. I am from India. My home overlooks a community garden which we have all strived to maintain and keep beautiful. Nowadays it is becoming a haunt for unwanted visitors. They are usual young adults and couples from nearby localities. Most of the time we find them indulging in indecent behaviour. Even though the area might be well lit, it does not prove a deterrent. When asked politely to move away, they are often abusive and use profanity to people of all age groups (even kids and elders). Even when we just pass by, they use obscene language and make lewd remarks. They also buy food from the popular eateries. And seem to treat the open areas and parks as tourist areas! It's a medium-sized town (67,000 population) with a lot of good facilities (hospital, airport, good shops) but no great nightlife. You do get live music in pubs, which are often also known in Australia as hotels, but the standard isn't that great. If you are after a clubbing scene you should stick with Sydney. Can I get a studio with furnishing, electricity and heating in Zone 3 for 450-500 pounds/month? A. Make sure you click on the 'RENT' tab then London. (to calculate approximate journey times, count 2 minutes for each train stop) The above procedure will give you an idea about rental costs per area. You may find that studio properties will be outside your budget. Housesharing or lodging with a family will be more reasonably priced. London… [cont.]

How did police determine the speed of drivers before radar was invented?
Q. How do they measure speed in localities where radar isn't allowed?
Asked by Tyrone S. - Thu Feb 22 17:18:56 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Some highways up in Canada still have yellow lines painted horizontally across roads. The police know haw fast it takes to get from one line to the other at the posted speed limit (say, 10 seconds at 100km/h) and then time how fast it takes YOU to go that distance. If you get there faster than their time, you're speeding. (Good math people can figure out the rate of speed inverse to the time needed to get from one line to another... simply put, as speed goes up, time goes down.)
