Camping is an outdoor recreational activity. The participants, known as campers, leave urban areas, their home region, or civilization and enjoy nature while spending one or several nights, usually at a campsite, which may have cabins. Camping may involve the use of a tent, a primitive structure, or no shelter at all. Camping as a recreational activity became popular in the early 20th century. Campers frequent national parks, other publicly owned natural areas, and privately owned campgrounds. Camping is also used as a cheap form of accommodation for people attending large open air events such as sporting meetings and music festivals. Organizers will provide a field and basic amenities. If you are heading up the I-15 N you have to spend a couple days at Navajo Lake. It is just outside Cedar City. Take the senic route via Zion. Navajo Lake has awsome trout fishing, the best single track mt bike trial around the lake, and you have to make the short mile hike to Cascade Falls. Google some images of Navajo lake. Crystal clear water and millions of wild flowers all spring & summer. Next to Zion it is my new favorite Vegas get-a-way. Answered by atsun1741 - Tue Aug 5 14:38:03 2008 Should I major in Recreation if I suck at sports?
Q. Okay, so here's the deal. I've been toying with the idea of majoring in Recreation. My plan is to be a sort of Recreation Organizer or leader of some sort. I want to plan and run events in summer camps, be a camp counselor, work in recreation programs with kids (perhaps through the YMCA or other gyms), etc. However, looking at the classes in various Recreation major programs, a lot of the required education involves playing Volleyball, Badmitton, athletic swimming, etc. and learning how to teach them. I wouldn't mind learning - I mean, I mostly want to teach kids, so it's not like I'm teaching pros or anything - thing is, I have no training in sports. I haven't been on a team since elementary school. I like the outdoors, I enjoy hiking and… [cont.] Asked by Jessica - Sat Aug 22 00:26:17 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. "Suck at sports" sounds like "I am not terribly good at traditional team sports and don't have much experience in that area." That's not a problem. You are not going to be a tennis, or basketball, or football coach. You need to know a little bit about all outdoor activities and be able to convey enthusiasm and a certain level of competency. But most of the recreation majors I had as students were not team "jocks". They were people who enjoyed the outdoors and got turned on by sharing their knowledge and experiences with their students. You will not know everything about every sport. No one really does. But you will learn how to help kids (or adults) find enjoyment in recreation. Sometimes they will teach you. Let them have the… [cont.] Answered by dennis - Sat Aug 22 15:23:58 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Camping (recreation)"
