What will americans do when the world runs out of petroleum? It may be alot sooner than later.?

The recreational driver will be the most put out, since you only get about 10 miles to the gallon on most typical big pick-ups, before aftermarket tampering. It only has a short supply of 'easy' petroleum. Over time, crude oil will be more and more difficult to get out of the ground, and require more refining to be usuable. So stuff will be more expensive. But that's Ok, because that will make solar cars, hydrogen powered cars, ethanol powered cars, etc., a better deal. Right now, they are too expensive, and nobody wants them. But the higher price of oil will be the best thing for those more environmentally freindly alternatives.
