Q. I know most if not all official currencies in circulation in the nations of today are FIAT currencies, but I am curious if there are still places in the world where precious metals are still used as tools of barter or even currency.

A. Probably for Barter in Africa. Certainly for some of those guns in the Congo. I also know a lot of Muslims say silver and gold are the only acceptable mediums of exchange according to the Koran.

How safe is Dubai & mirdiff town to stay with pets?

Hi, I will be moving to dubai shortly with my family & 2 dogs, we are an indian family, we wanted to know how safe is it to stay in dubai with pets, we are planning to stay in Mirdiff as villas are available & since we have 2 labs living in an appartments becomes tough, so how safe is Midiff . Is it safe for indians to live with the localities as mirdiff has many localities.

A. YES!! People don't believe me when I tell them but this is REALLY what it is like up here... We don't lock cars, in fact leave the keys in them. Never lock the front door. There has only been one incident of crime this month and that was some kids spraying a willy on the window of a family's car...long story lol. The postman if we are out leaves the mail on the kitchen table. There has never been a burglary in the Village. There has never been an assault, well local fishermen fighting yes, but nothing more and You can quite safely walk down the street at night, but the midges are vicious!! x
